In order to strengthen the children's awareness of environmental protection and further improve their hands-on ability, Anqing Foreign Language School's Primary Department held the Art ‘Spring Cup’ Handcraft Production Competition in mid-November to make a beautiful home for birds.
To be concrete, the content of the activity is in line with the purpose of ‘environmental protection, conservation, safety, innovation, versatility and practicality’ to change waste material into things of value. The students of the Primary Department designed and made various kinds of colorful hand-made bird's nest works with various waste materials. ‘A Warm Home’ made out of discarded cardboard boxes; ‘Nest’ made of corn husks; Series of works such as ‘Bird's Nest’ made of tree branches and clay; ‘Home’ made of wool and paper shell and so on.
In brief, the lively and vivid works produced by recycling waste material are novel in design, ingenious in conception and easy to operate, which not only integrated environmental protection, health, civilization and economy into students' life concept, further enriched their campus life, but also played a positive role in promoting students' operational ability, creative thinking ability as well as their scientific inquiry ability. What’s more, the informative event let everyone have a deeper understanding of the birds’ nests and let the children learn to recognize the significance of protecting nature in the meantime.
